The next time you’re at the medical spa don’t be surprised if you see a bunch of men in the waiting room.  We’re told men are showing up in increasing numbers for everything from Botox to liposuction.  But it’s not necessarily about vanity.

A medical spa is a place where you picture women being pampered and pricked to smooth out wrinkles, but now men are showing up by the dozens.

Andy Osborne, a sales executive for a hotel group, attends a spa.

“I just turned 40 this year so I wanted to do something to make myself a little younger,” he said.

The trip to the medical spa is a first for Osborne.

“I felt a little strange making the call but they put me right at ease saying it was typical.  They are seeing more and more men,” Osborne said.

But Dr. Bill Johnson says while women go after ideals, modeling ourselves off what we see in magazines, men book appointments for very different reasons.

“It’s a competition for the guys,” Johnson said.

“There are a lot of people who are younger, getting into hotel sales so anything I can do to make myself look a little younger, be more competitive,” Osborne said.

And with more people finding themselves out of work, the competition to find that perfect job is intense.
And it’s not just Botox.  More men are giving liposuction a try.

Osborne hopes rolling back time will help bring in the sales.
